SE-1010 / SE-2000 Encoder Product Manual, Version 1.0
SE-1010 / SE-2000 Applications
The SE encoder is ideal for encoding at digital cable head-ends, electronic newsgathering,
ATSC broadcasting, and for DVB satellite distribution.
Note:
Please refer to the documentation that comes with the IRT, TMX-2010, and/or MPS for
configuration information of those devices. Because the SE encoder does not output system
time, the downstream device must supply system time.
For the SE encoder-to-IRT application, an SNTP Time Server must be used to provide system
time to the IRT. For part numbers and other details, see “Connectors and Required Cables”
on page 31.
For digital cable head-ends, a number of SE encoders can be used to digitize analog
programming for inclusion in the digital tier. The following high-level diagrams show
example configurations.
Example 1 shows an SE encoder connected to an IRT.
Example 2 shows several SE encoders connected to an MPS.
Example 3 shows SE encoders connected to a TMX-2010 that is connected to a SEM.
