newspaper between the logs).
C. Draw back the fire starter when flames appear.
D. Continue pointing the fire starter in the

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
If necessary, please use dry cloth to clean your
appliance after unplugging and cooling down. The
appliance is not intended to be left outdoors, please
store dry and indoors only.
WARNING!
Pull the fire starter slightly backwards when
sparks or glow appear. Fire starter can not stay in
fire. Otherwise, the metal cover of the nozzle will
be melted.
Charcoal comes in many forms. There are briquettes,
lump charcoal, heat beads, hard wood etc. The
ignition time will differ depending on material and
production quality.
If we start with charcoal it is mostly made from wood.
Much of the charcoal on the market is poor quality,
often made from fast growing trees and often chilled
with water to speed production. Poor quality char-
coal can spark when ignited (which is not dangerous
but perhaps not so fun).
Charcoal that is produced from hard wood however
will take longer to ignite and get ready to use. Good
quality charcoal lights quickly without sparks, is ready
to use in a couple of minutes with the MONO Lighter
and burns during a longer period.
Briquettes are pulverized charcoal that’s compressed
with corn starch to bind the charcoal. Briquettes
produce smoke (it’s the starch) but ordinary char-
coal is smokeless. Some producers compress their
briquettes very hard which makes them burn much
longer (up to four hours), but on the other hand also
takes longer time to light and get ready for cooking.
Only use such briquettes when you need to barbecue
for many hours.
