Safety Notes

The unit corresponds to the EU directive 89/336/
EEC for electromagnetic compatibility.

Do not operate the receiver in areas of very high or
very low temperatures (admissible ambient temper-
ature range -10 °C to +55 °C).

For cleaning of the housing do not use any strong
detergents or chemicals.

If the unit is used for purposes other than originally
intended, if it is not mounted or operated correctly,
or not repaired in an expert way, no liability can be
assumed for possible damage.

If the receiver is to be put out of operation defini-
tively, take it to a local recycling plant for disposal.

3

Applications

The receiver AV-3030R serves in connection with a
transmitter or a wireless monitoring camera of the
series “AV-...” by MONACOR for wireless audio and
video transmission. With additional units of the
MONACOR range it is possible to build up a wireless
video surveillance system. Due to the weatherproof
housing (IP 54) the AV-3030R is especially suitable
for outside mounting.

The transmission range largely depends on the

local conditions and the transmitter used. In the open
it can extend up to 1200 m, in buildings according to
the condition of the walls 70 – 125 m.

4

Setting into Operation

4.1 Placing of transmitter and receiver

Practical experience has shown that an optimum
reception is reached when placing the units at a
height of at least 1.5 m to 2 m above ground. Prior to
the final mounting a test run is recommended, as the
transmission quality can substantially be changed by
displacing the units by only a few centimetres.

4.2 Mounting

1) To be able to connect the receiver after mounting,

first pull out the inside part (2) of the housing. For
this purpose press the two latches (1) outwards so
that the inside part can be pulled out.

2) Fix the inside part via the support (3) to a wall or a

pole so that the cable inlets (4) point

downwards

and no rain can penetrate the unit.

In case of pole mounting use the supplied clip

with the wing nuts and the screws according to
fig. 1. After setting into operation adjust the re-
ceiver to optimum reception by turning the pole.

3) After the connection (chapter 4.3) and adjust-

ments (chapter 4.4) place the housing.

4.3 Connection of the Units

Prior to the connection of units, switch them off first.
Always connect the power supply of the receiver last
of all. To change existing connections, first disconnect
the power supply for the receiver, and switch off the
connected units.

All connections are made via the connector strip (9).

Connection wires with a cross section from 0.14 –
1 mm

can be used. To plug in or pull out a wire, press

the corresponding orange strip. Plug the connection
wires through one of the cable inlets (4).

4.3.1 Surveillance monitor/TV set

1) Connect the video input of the monitor via a 75

coaxial cable to terminal 8 “Video” and the screen-
ing to terminal 7 “GND”.

2) If sound is transmitted as well, connect the audio

input of the monitor via a screened audio cable to
terminal 6 “Audio A”, in case of stereo sound ad-
ditionally to terminal 4 “Audio B”. Connect the
screening to terminal 5 or 3 “GND”.

3) Instead of a monitor it is also possible to connect a

TV set. If the TV set is not provided with a video
and audio input, the receiver can be connected via
an RF modulator (e. g. VAM-24 by MONACOR) to
the antenna jack.

4.3.2 Signal device or other additional unit

If the transmitter used is equipped with a control
channel, it is possible to activate by this an optical or
acoustical signal device connected to the receiver or
another additional unit (e. g. video recorder to start a
recording automatically). The connection is shown in
fig. 3, the unit to be connected is symbolized by R1.

If a current of more than 80 mA is required for the

control, insert a relay or a switching amplifier. When
