5 Connecting the Recorder
5.1 Installing the hard disk
The recorders of the surveillance sets (IOZ-…) are equipped
with a hard disk. The individual recorders (IOR-… and NWR-…),
however, do not include a hard disk, i. e. it must be installed
first. The MONACOR product line offers suitable hard disks
(SATA-…) with different storage capacities. When using hard
disks of other vendors, make sure that they are specially suited
for security and surveillance technology.
Caution:
Never insert or remove the hard disk while the
recorder is switched on!
1) Disconnect the recorder from the power supply.
2) Screw off the housing cover.
3) Insert the hard disk and fasten it with screws on the lower side.
Model NWR-801POE: Directly connect the connections of
the hard disk to the PCB.
4) Connect the power supply cable for the hard disk and the
data cable to the corresponding connections of the hard
disk.
5) Screw on the housing cover.
6) Connect the recorder and switch it on; then make all set-
tings, using the setup wizard (chapter 6.3).
5.2 Cameras, monitor, USB mouse
Cameras
Cameras that are not integrated into the network
can be directly connected to the RJ45 jacks LAN… (5 and 6)
(with the exception of the model NWR-6400). The RJ45 jacks
can also be used to supply the cameras with power via PoE
(Power over Ethernet).
Note:
The surveillance sets IOZ-204BV (and …DV) and IOZ-408BV (and
… DV) are preconfigured in such a way that the cameras provided will
be automatically linked to the recorder as soon as they are connected to
the jacks LAN… However, always observe chapter 6.4.
For cameras to be accessed via a network, use a router for
connection and configure the cameras accordingly.
The recorders NWR-1608POE, NWR-3216POE and NWR-
6400 provide an RS485 interface (17) for PTZ cameras where
pan, tilt and zoom cannot be set via the network connection,
refer to chapter 5.5.
Monitor
Jack HDMI (11) for the maximum resolution of
1080p; when the monitor only provides a VGA connection,
the jack VGA (10) can be used (lower resolution)

Connect to one of the USB ports

5.3 Audio signals
Line level input

Note:
The input signals of this jack will not be recorded.
Audio signal for monitoring
When the monitor is con-
nected via the jack HDMI (11), this jack will be used to route
the audio signal to the monitor. For other connection options,
the audio signal of the channel selected is available at the RCA
jack AUDIO OUTPUT (9).
5.4 Alarm inputs and alarm outputs
These connections are made by means of the green terminal
strip (12) or – for the models NWR-1608POE, NWR-3216POE
and NWR-6400 – via the removable green screw terminals (17).
The
alarm inputs
are marked as SENSOR on the models
IOR-204, IOR-208 and NWR-801POE and as ALARM 1 – 16 on
the other models. The alarm inputs can be used to connect
alarm sensors (motion detectors, photoelectric sensors etc.) in
order to, for example, automatically save a snapshot and to
display the respective camera image in full-screen mode or to
automatically send an e-mail with the snapshot.
Connect the connection [–] of a sensor to the pin G
(ground) and connect the connection [+] of the sensor to the
respective channel input (1 – 4, 1 – 8 or 1 – 16) of the recorder.
The menu item “I / O” in the tile “Alarm” can be used to define
the alarm duration, recording duration and alarm contact (NC
or NO) and to make other settings (chapter 6.6.6).
If recordings are not to be made constantly but are to be
triggered by the sensor, make the appropriate settings in the
recording schedule (chapter 6.6.5).
The
alarm output
is marked as ALARM on the models
IOR-204, IOR-208 and NWR-801POE and as ALARM OUT (NO
and COM) on the other models. The alarm output is a poten-
tial-free relay with a normally open contact (power rating of
30 V/ 1 A) to which an acoustic or optical alarm signal device,
for example, can be connected.
5.5 RS485 interface for PTZ control
– NWR-1608POE, NWR-3216POE and NWR-6400 only –
Connect cameras where pan, tilt and zoom can only be adjusted
via an RS-485 interface to the screw terminals “RS485” (17).
Connect the contacts “−” (= RS-485-A) and “+” (= RS-485-B)
to the corresponding contacts of the first camera. An additional
camera can be connected in parallel to the connections of the
first camera etc. until all cameras are connected in a chain.
To reduce interference, twisted cables should be used. At the
final camera of the chain, terminate the two cables with a
120 Ω resistor (this is often possible by means of a switch at
the camera).
To be able to address the cameras independently from
the recorder, assign an individual address to each camera
(via a menu of the camera). At the recorder, set the address
to be used to control the respective camera as well as the
transmission parameters and protocol the camera requires
(chapter 6.6.8).
5.6 Network
For remote control and when the camera is integrated into a
network, connect the jack WAN (7) of the recorder to a local
network or to a router. Always observe the data security notes
in chapter 6.1.1!
