The  purpose  of  safet y  symbols  is  t o  at t ract   your 
at t ent ion  t o  possible  dangers.  The  safet y  symbols 
and t he explanat ions wit h t hem deserve your careful 
at t ent ion  and  underst anding.  The  symbol  warnings 
do  not ,  by  t hemselves,  eliminat e  any  danger.  The 
inst ruct ions  and  warnings  t hey  give  are  no 
subst it ut es for proper accident  prevent ion measures.

 

Be sure t o read and underst and all 
safet y  inst ruct ions  in  t his  Owner's 

M anual,  including  all  safet y  alert   symbols  such  as

using  t his  t ool.  Failure  t o  following  all  inst ruct ions 
list ed below may result  in elect ric shock, fire, and/ or 
serious personal injury.

 

The definit ions below describe t he level of severit y for 
each  signal  word.  Please  read  t he  manual  and  pay 
at t ent ion t o t hese symbols.

DAMAGE PREVENTION AND 
INFORMATION MESSAGES

 

These  inform  t he  user  of  import ant   informat ion 
and/ or inst ruct ions t hat  could lead t o equipment  or 
ot her propert y damage if t hey are not  followed. Each 
message is preceded by t he word "NOTICE", as in t he 
example below:

The  operat ion  of  any  power  t ools 
can result  in foreign object s being 

t hrown int o your eyes, which can result  in severe eye 
damage.  Before  beginning  power  t ool  operat ion, 
always  wear  safet y  goggles  or  safet y  glasses  wit h 
side shields and a full-face shield when needed. We 
recommend a Wide Vision Safet y M ask for use over 
eyeglasses  or  st andard  safet y  glasses  wit h  side 
shields. Always use eye prot ect ion which is marked 
t o comply wit h ANSI Z87.1.
