Voltage Detection System Series 5000
Note: The scale above the LED display range from 5V to 5000V
(see Table 2). They are arranged according to a 3 cycle
logarithmic scale to show voltage readings. Also, each lighted
element indicates a
voltage range
rather than a single number.
The chart shows the actual voltage at which the LED element
will light, or the
beginning
of the voltage range for that element.

NOTE: The instrument has been factory calibrated to assure
accurate readings. No further adjustment should be necessary.
However, ISO certification may require that you have the
instrument calibrated at a NIST certified calibration lab once per
year. Novx will perform this service for a fee.
4.1.2
Battery Operation
For portable operation, Novx offers an internal NiCd battery pack,
available with the instrument. The battery pack requires no external
connections, so there are no exterior indications that a battery is present
in the instrument, other than the presence of lighted LEDs with no external
AC power input. When plugged into an outlet, the instrument maintains a
proper battery charge automatically. The battery charge circuitry is
“intelligent”, monitoring charge rate and voltage level.
CAUTION
: Normally the instrument is grounded through the power cord
(if operated with the standard 110VAC transformer) and outlet. When
using the battery pack, it is necessary that the instrument be properly
grounded to assure accurate readings.
