Answering and Placing Calls
Receiving Internal Calls
To receive an internal call:
Press or lift the handset out of the charger unit.
To redirect a ringing call to another extension or to an external number:
Press and .
Enter the extension or external number to which you want to redirect the call. See redirecting a
ringing call below for more information.
External Calls
With external calls, you can talk to people who are not members of your telephone system.
When you make an external call, however, you must dial any area codes or long distance digits
that your telephone company requires.
Placing External Calls
To place an external call:
1. If necessary, lift the handset from its charger unit.
2. Press the CALL button.
3. Dial the desired number.
4. When finished with the call, press .
To request a callback (queue on to the line) if all outgoing lines are busy when you try to
call out:
1. When you hear busy signals, press and .
2. When your endpoint rings, press and wait for the other party to answer.
To cancel the queue request before your endpoint rings:
Press .
When dialing the number, you can do one of the following:

Redial the last number you dialed, see “Redialing a Number” on page 21 .
•
Use the Station Speed-Dial feature, see “Station Speed Dial” on page 28 .
•
Use the System Speed-Dial feature, see “System Speed Dial” on page 29 .
•
Use the speed-dial directory, see “Intelligent Directory Search” on page 35 .
Receiving External Calls

Press or the flashing button. Or, lift the handset out of the charger unit.
To redirect a ringing call:
1. Press and .
2. Enter the extension or external number to which you want to redirect the call. See
“Redirecting Calls” on
page 21 for more information.
