Troubleshooting Memory

Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the appliance cover and
access any of the components inside the appliance. Before you begin this procedure,
review the safety instructions that came with the appliance.

Invalid memory configurations can cause your appliance to halt at startup without
video output.
To troubleshoot memory:
1.
If the appliance is operational, run the appropriate online diagnostic test.
If diagnostics indicates a fault, follow the corrective actions provided by the
diagnostic program.
2.
If the appliance is not operational, power off the appliance and attached
peripherals, and unplug the appliance from the power source. Wait at least 10
seconds and then reconnect the appliance to power.
3.
Power on the appliance and attached peripherals and note the messages on the
screen or LCD panel.
Go to step
if an error message appears indicating a fault with a specific
memory module.
4.
Power off the appliance and attached peripherals, and disconnect the appliance
from the electrical outlet.

Open the appliance. See

Remove the cooling shroud. See
7.
Check the memory channels and ensure that they are populated correctly.
8.
Reseat the memory modules in their sockets. See
9.
Install the cooling shroud. See
10.
Close the appliance. See

Reconnect the appliance to its electrical outlet, and power on the appliance and
attached peripherals.
If the problem is not resolved, proceed with the next step.
12.
Power off the appliance and attached peripherals, and disconnect the appliance
from the power source.
13.
Open the appliance. See

Remove the cooling shroud. See
15.
If a diagnostic test or error message indicates a specific memory module as
faulty, swap or replace the module.
16.
To troubleshoot an unspecified faulty memory module, replace the memory
module in the first DIMM socket with a module of the same type and capacity.
