Note:
If the SD card was used to store data in other devices, reformat the SD
card on a PC. By reformatting the card, all previous data will be deleted to
ensure error-free operation. If the SD card has only been used in the DTC 550,
formatting can be done with camera as well. It is recommended to take some
test photos to make sure that the SD card is functioning properly.
Language setting
The default language settings of your DTC 550 wildlife camera are in German. To
change the language, please follow these steps:
1. Move the main switch to “SETUP”.
2. You will now be in the manual photo release mode.
3. Push the MENU button to enter the main menu of the camera.
4. Push the “down” arrow button until you reach “Sprache”.
5. Push OK.
6. Using the “up” and “down” buttons, choose your language.
7. Push OK.
8. The camera will now go back to the main menu. Your camera is now set to the
language of choice.
Mounting the camera
1. Mounting strap:
The mounting eyelets on the back of the camera can be used
to mount the camera on a tree or post. The strap can be pulled through the eyelets
and around the tree or post and then tightened. Alternatively, eyelets for mounting
the camera with a rope or wire rope (not included in the scope of delivery) are
also available.
2. Tripod:
The ¼” socket at the bottom of the mounting bracket can be used to
mount the camera on a tripod or the wall mounting bracket included in the scope
of delivery.
3. Wall mount:
The DTC 550 can be mounted on a wall or ceiling with the wall
mount (included in the scope of delivery). Please make sure that the fastening
screws are tight before attaching the camera.
Setup mode
Switch your DTC 550 to “SETUP” mode (main switch at the centre). You will now be
in the manual photo release mode – in this mode, you can take photos or videos
to test the functionality of the camera. Push “MENU” to enter the main menu of
the camera.
You can make various basic settings (please move the arrow keys down or up and
confirm a selection made by pressing the OK button). By default certain settings
have been pre-selected. If you want to keep the setting (bold in the following), you
do not have to make any changes in this menu item and can skip it.
a) Mode:
Photo
, video, photo + video: Here you can choose if you wish to take
photos or record videos. In the photo + video mode, the camera first takes a
predetermined number of photos and then a video is recorded.
b) Photo Size:
Select photo resolution: It is recommended to set your camera to
“5M”
. Photos with higher resolutions use considerably more storage space.
c) Video Site:
High resolution videos provide higher quality videos but use con-
siderably more storage space. 1280x720p at 30 fps is the default setting and is
generally recommended. If the video quality is not that important and you wish
to save memory space, set the camera to a lower video resolution. The highest
resolution of 1920x1080p records at 15 frames per second.
d) Number of photos:

made each time the camera is triggered.
e) Video length:

- 180 seconds (in 5 second intervals): Select the length of video
that should be recorded each time the camera is triggered.
f) Interval:
From 5 sec. to 59:59 min. Default

sec. Select the amount of time the
camera should wait before the camera should trigger again after a photo or video
has just been made. This function can prevent repeated and undesired recordings
of the same occurrence.
g) Time Lapse:
If this setting has been activated, the camera will record images in
accordance with the selected time interval, regardless if the PIR sensors have been
triggered or not – images during the growth of plants, progress at a construction
site etc. can be recorded at regular intervals. The default setting is
“OFF”
