Lightness (Brightness)
The lightness or darkness of an image. Decreasing brightness
darkens the overall image. Increasing brightness lightens the
overall image.
Local printer
A printer that is directly connected to your computer, as opposed to
a remote or network printer.
Media
Materials upon which data is printed, such as envelopes, plain
paper, thick paper, and transparency film.
Memory
The capacity of your computer to store information, or the devices
in which information is stored, usually measured in bytes. While
you are working on a file, it is stored in random-access memory
(RAM) chips, but is lost when you reset or turn off your computer.
When you save a file, it is stored on floppy or hard disks or other
storage devices. Basic information about the computer is
permanently stored in read-only memory (ROM), which cannot be
changed.
Network card
A part that is installed in the computer in order for the computer to
be connected to a network environment.
Orientation
The direction of print on a page. Printing such that the shorter
edges of the paper are at the top and bottom is called portrait
orientation. Printing such that the longer edges of the paper are at
the top and bottom is called landscape orientation.
Page description language
A set of codes that describe the placement of text and graphics on a
page. PCL and PostScript are examples of page description
languages.
