To disable the IR light, short-press the POWER/IR button again. You will 
notice that the IR light indicator on the screen is no longer showing. 

2.12  Attaching External Accessories 

This camcorder supports lens filters & attachments, external microphones and 
assistive lighting utilizing power from the hot-shoe mount.  When attaching an 
external microphone, be sure to mount it to the hot-shoe mount and also insert 
the 3.5mm plug into the MIC port.
