Notes
Preparation of the working area
Set up the working area in as practical and
convenient a way as possible to ensure great-
est ease and speed of ironing.
For safe use of this ironer the operator must
be in a seated position.
A height adjustable chair is a good idea so
that users of different heights can sit in the
correct position making ironing relaxed and
comfortable.
Place close at hand:
A basket with the prepared laundry.
A place to put ironed laundry.
Small items can be hung over the swingout
bar.
Have a bowl of water ready to redampen the
laundry.
Preparation of the laundry for ironing
Correct preparation of the laundry is a pre-
requisite for successful ironing.
Therefore, before ironing, the laundry should
be:
damped down
pulled into shape and smoothed out
sorted
Damping down
The laundry needs to be at a sufficient degree
of dampness, so that when it is passed just
once through the ironing machine at the
correct temperature, it will come out smooth
and dry. Therefore, damp down the clothes
as you would for hand ironing, preferably
some hours beforehand so that the articles
achieve a uniform degree of dampness.

Material

Tips
If a tumble dryer is being used, select the
programme marked "machine iron".
To minimize preparation time and to re-
dampen, use warm water.
Sorting
Sort the articles for ironing according to the
heat needed for them so that ironing can pro-
ceed swiftly.
First iron Nylon, Perlon, other synthetics and
artificial silk, then at a higher temperature -
silk, wool, cotton and linen.
Starched items are ironed last to avoid any
starch deposits from these affecting the finish
of other articles.
