AUDIO ALIGNMENT
Spkr In, Mic In, Spkr Out:
These settings are internal levels to the TVS-2V-HS1 and have been set at the factory
for best performance. They should not require adjustment.
MIC Out:
This is the only adjustment that should be made to the audio levels of the TVS-2V-HS1. If transmitter
modulation is low this level should be increased one or two steps at a time, until full modulation has been
reached.
After entering the parameters, save the file by going to File - Save As. Enter the file name in the File Name block
and click Save. Saving the file will allow for quick and easy reprogramming of units.
HARDWARE INSTALLATION
Be certain to follow standard anti-static procedures when handling any of Midian’s products.
Simply plug the TVS-2V-HS1 into the U329 6-pin connector on the radio.
Installation Hints:
Midian H250 employs the 6-pin u329 connector. Power is normally brought in on the 6
th
center pin. Older radios
using the 5-pin connector do not normally have power on them.
The E pin on the older 5-pin connector is normally connected to a point inside the radio for repeat PTT when
using a 2
nd
man-pack radio. To connect this product to older radios the E pin can be setup as the voltage pin by
snipping off the repeat line which is rarely ever used. In this situation a jumper can be installed on the inside of the
radio connectors E pin to switched battery. Please contact Midian for more information
The PTT Out from the handset to the radio uses an open collector Darlington transistor to key the radio and can
handle 200 mA continuous. There is also a ground wire, mic wire, and earpiece receive audio lead pre-wired to
the connector.
PRODUCT OPERATION
The TVS-2V scrambler is installed inside a commercial, waterproof military H250 handset. It simply plugs onto a
PRC type military man-pack radio.
This product can be used in scramble mode only or it can switch back and forth between scramble and clear
mode.
To use this product in scramble mode only:
Go to the security settings tab in the programming software. Check the power up in scramble mode box and
program the TVS-2V-HS1. Once this is done, every time the radio is powered up the handset will automatically
enter into scrambled mode and cannot be used in clear mode. Do not use this mode if other users on the channel
are not equipped with the TVS-2V-HS1 handset as you will be unable to communicate with non-scrambled
handsets.
To use this product in scramble or clear mode:
Under the security settings tab do not check the power up in scrambled mode box.
To transmit/receive in clear mode, simply turn the power on. You will hear 3 power-up beeps to indicate that the
unit is in clear mode. Use the handset as usual. In this mode the user can communicate with non-scrambled
handsets.
To transmit/receive in scramble mode hold the Push-To-Talk button down while turning on the power to the radio.
You will hear the three power-up beeps followed by 2 additional beeps to designate scrambled mode. Continue to
hold PTT until all 5 beeps are heard. Only handsets equipped with a scrambler and the same security key will be
able to communicate.
