Possible causes/consequences and

Solutions

You inadvertently touched the multifunction steering wheel while

steering intervention was active.

While steering intervention is active, make sure not to touch the

multifunction steering wheel.

The vehicle has started to skid and ESP

has intervened.

Use the Parking Pilot again later (

page 183).

Parking Pilot inop‐

You have just carried out a large number of turning or parking manoeu-

vres.

Parking Pilot will become available again after approximately ten

minutes (

page 183).

Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible, paying

attention to road and traffic conditions.

Switch off and restart the engine.

Consult a qualified specialist workshop.

Parking Pilot is malfunctioning.

Steering Pilot and Stop&Go Pilot are also temporarily inoperative.

Possible causes:

The radar sensor system is temporarily inoperative, e.g. due to

electromagnetic radiation emitted by nearby TV or radio stations or

other sources of electromagnetic radiation.

The system is outside the operating temperature range.

The on-board voltage is too low.

A warning tone also sounds.

Once the causes listed above no longer apply, the display message

goes out.

Distance Pilot DISTRONIC is operational again.
If the display message does not disappear:

Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible, paying

attention to road and traffic conditions.

Safeguard the vehicle against rolling away (

page 153).

Restart the engine.
