Manual transmission
The manual transmission has 9 or 16 gears depending on the
transmission in question.
The clutch is operated and the gears selected by the driver.
Automatedtransmission(Mercedes PowerShift)
Depending on the transmission, Mercedes PowerShift has
either 8, 12 or 16 forward gears and 2 or 4 reverse gears.
The clutch operation is controlled automatically by the trans-
mission control. Depending on the transmission mode, the
gears are selected either automatically by the transmission
control or manually by the driver.
The vehicle features an engageable crawler mode. With craw-
ler mode activated, the vehicle crawls forwards by itself when
the service brake is released and continues to roll at walking
pace.

If the driving resistance is high, e.g. due to a high
gross combination weight, the clutch could be
overloaded in crawler mode.
