Gasoline engine fuel tank
The fuel tank has been completely redeveloped in
order to meet the requirements of engine M 157 AMG
in terms of higher and controlled pump output. It also
meets the US emissions requirements of LEVII and, in
the future, LEVIII.
The new fuel tank with in-tank feed module is made
entirely out of hot-dip aluminized steel. It also has a
protective paint coating approx. 1 mm thick to protect
against stone chipping.
The US version of the fuel system also features a self-
test function which can detect even the most minute
leaks through the use of vacuum and notifies the
driver of these directly through a fault message on the
instrument cluster.
