w h ile th e e n gine is ru n n in g , th is may
in d ica te th a t th e p o ly -V -b e lt has b ro ­
ken. S h o u ld th is c o n d itio n o c c u r, the
p o ly -V -b e lt m u s t be re p la c e d b e fo re
c o n tin u in g to o p e ra te th e vehicle.
O th e rw is e , th e e n gine w ill ove rh e a t
du e to an in o p e ra tiv e w a te r pu m p
w h ic h m ay re s u lt in dam age to th e
en gine.
Oil Pressure G auge
The oil p re s s u re at idle sp e e d may
d ro p to 0.3 ba r (4.4 psi) if th e e n gine
is at o p e ra tin g te m p e ra tu re . T his w ill
n o t je o p a rd iz e its o p e ra tio n a l re lia b il­
ity.

im m e d ia te ly u p o n a c c e le ra tio n .
Engine Oil Consum ption
E ngine oil c o n s u m p tio n can o n ly be
d e te rm in e d a fte r a c e rta in m ileage
has been c o v e re d . D u ring th e b re a k -
in p e rio d , h ig h e r oil c o n s u m p tio n
may be n o tic e d and is norm al.
Low Engine Oil Level In d icato r Lamp
The in d ic a to r lam p c o m e s on w ith th e
key in s te e rin g lo c k p o s itio n 2 and
s h o u ld g o o u t w h e n th e e n g in e is ru n ­
ning.
If th e in d ic a to r lam p c o m e s on w ith
th e e n gine ru n n in g and at o p e ra tin g
te m p e ra tu re , th e e n g in e oil level has
d ro p p e d to a p p ro x im a te ly th e m in i­
m um m ark on th e d ip s tic k . W hen th is
o c c u rs , th e in d ic a to r lam p w ill firs t
c o m e on in te rm itte n tly and th e n stay
on if th e oil level d ro p s fu rth e r. If no oil
leaks are n o te d and th e re is no lo s s in
e n g in e oil p re s s u re , c o n tin u e to drive
to the n e a re st se rv ic e s ta tio n w h e re
th e e n g in e oil s h o u ld be to p p e d to th e
“ f u ll” m ark o f th e d ip s tic k (page 78).
In a d d itio n to th e in d ic a to r lam p, the
e n gine oil level s h o u ld be p e rio d ic a lly
c h e c k e d w ith th e d ip s tic k , fo r e xa m ­
ple d u rin g a fue l s to p , o r b e fo re a long
trip (see page 78).
E xterio r Light Failure In d icato r Lamp
W ith th e key in s te e rin g lo c k p o s i­
tio n 2, a dim in d ic a to r lam p c o m e s on
and m u s t g o o u t w ith th e e n g in e ru n ­
ning.
W ith th e key in s te e rin g lo c k p o s i­
tio n 2 o r w ith th e e n gine ru n n in g , a
b rig h t illu m in a tio n o f th is lam p in d i­
c a te s an e x te rio r lam p failure.
If an e x te rio r lig h t fails, th e in d ic a to r
w ill c o m e on o n ly w h e n th a t lig h t is
s w itc h e d on.
If a b ra ke o r tu rn signal lig h t fails, the
lig h t fa ilu re in d ic a to r w ill c o m e on
w h en a p p ly in g th e b ra ke o r a c tu a tin g
th e tu rn sig na l and stay on un til the
e n gine is tu rn e d off.
