TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM
IDENTIFYING THE CAUSE
All Burners will not light, even with lighter
or match
•
Positive connection or leak between the BBQ and and natural gas safety shut-off
valve.
•
Installation issues. Consult with the gas fitter who performed installation. Pipe must
be sized according to installation code.
•
Natural gas safety shut-off valve is closed.
•
Burners are not properly seated over valve orifices.
Burners will not light with the igniter (No
spark). Will light with a Lighter or Match
• Ignition battery is dead or corroded
• Loose Electrode Wires
• Faulty Electronic Ignition box
• Broken electrode – ceramic casing around electrode damaged
Flame blows out
•
Installation issues. Consult with the gas fitter who performed installation. Pipe must
be sized according to installation code.
• High or gusting winds. Reposition grill accordingly.
• Not using the Natural Gas Hose supplied with this BBQ.
•
Leak or poor connection between BBQ and natural gas shut-off valve.
Low heat, Low flame or incomplete flame
and difficulty lighting burners (assuming
burners and venturi tubes are free and
clear of blockages)
•
Installation issues. Consult with the gas fitter who performed installation. Pipe must
be sized according to installation code.
•
Gas pressure is affected by the length and piping size of the gas line from the
home.
HOME TO BBQ
Up to 25’
3/8” diameter
26-50’
1/2” diameter
51-100’
2/3” of run 3/4” or 1/3”of run 1/2”
• Not using the Natural Gas Hose supplied with this BBQ. Undersized supply line.
Pipe must be sized according to installation code.
• Supply hose may be pinched, have crack or abrasion. Perform leak test of entire
hose.
Melting gas supply hose
• Poor connection between NG hose and Gas Grill.
• Poor ventilation caused by in-appropriate clearance at the sides and rear of the
BBQ.
• Overheating caused by high cooking temperatures and grease build-up.
• Build up of grease in grease tray.
Large yellow/orange flames/ Irregular
flames/ All ports not lit
• New Burner may have residual manufacturing oils. Preheat on high with lid closed.
• Spider webs or insect nests in venturi of burners. Clean burner venturis before
proceeding.
• Food or grease build-up. Clean cook system parts.
• Poor alignment of valve to burner venturi. Make sure burner venturi is properly
seated on valve assembly.
Irregular flames/ All ports not lit/ lazy
flames/ smell of gas
• Burner ports are clogged or blocked. Spider webs or insects in venturi of burners.
Flashback fire/ knobs melting/ fire behind
control panel
• Burner and burner venturi tubes blocked and require cleaning.
Flare-up/ Grease Fires
•
Excess grease build-up in firebox and on key parts
• Excess fat in meat. It is best to trim fat before grilling.
• Excessive cooking temperature. Only use max temperature for Searing.
