• Never use the rotavator in a poorly ventilated outdoor environment where the
exhaust fumes cannot easily be dispersed (e.g. in a hollow or large hole).
• Never use the rotavator in an enclosed or partially enclosed area, such as a
tent, carport, basement or buildings with one or more side walls.
• Always run the rotavator with the exhaust pipe and muffler directed away from
the user.
• Make sure that onlookers remain at a safe distance, and never point the
exhaust towards any person.
• Never attempt to suck out the petrol with your mouth – this can lead to serious
personal or fatal injury.
Fuel
• Follow all the safety instructions to prevent burn injuries and fires.
• Never change or modify the engine on the rotavator. This can lead to serious personal
or fatal injury. Never handle fuel in a place where sparks or flames can ignite.
• Always handle fuel outdoors in a well ventilated area.
• Both the fuel and the fumes from it are dangerous and highly flammable.
• Never handle fuel in the vicinity of tumble driers, hot water heaters, radiators
or electric motors etc.
• Petrol fires spread very quickly and are highly explosive. Keep the engine and
the fuel at a safe distance from naked flames and sparks.
• Do not start the engine if petrol has been spilled. Wipe off excess fuel and
allow to dry. Move the rotavator away from the area to avoid sparks.
• Never store the rotavator indoors with fuel in the tank. The fuel and fuel fumes
are highly flammable.
• Always use an approved fuel container, approved for storing fuel.
• Never fill the petrol tank indoors. Always fill it outdoors in a well ventilated area.
• Never refuel when the engine is running. Always allow the rotavator to cool
before refilling.
• Never drain off fuel from the rotavator in an enclosed area.
• Always wipe off any spilled fuel from the engine and the surrounding area
before starting the engine.
• Allow any spilled fuel to dry after wiping, and before starting the rotavator.
• Always allow any fumes to disperse before starting the rotavator.
• Always check that the filler cap is properly screwed on before starting the
rotavator. Never run the rotavator without a properly screwed on filler cap.
