workpiece is moving away from the user,
the tool and the rotating accessory can in
the event of kickback be thrown towards
the user.
• If the disc jams, or if there is an
interruption to the cutting, release the
power switch and hold the tool steady
until the disc has stopped. Never attempt
to remove the disc from the cut in the
workpiece while the disc is still moving –
this can cause kickback. Check why the
disc is jamming, and adjust.
• Never start the product when the disc is in
contact with the workpiece. Allow the disc
to reach maximum speed and then
carefully insert it in the cut in the
workpiece again. Restarting the tool when
the disc is in contact with the workpiece
can cause the disc to climb, or kick back.
• Support large workpieces to reduce the
risk of the disc jamming and causing
kickback. Large workpieces often sag
under their own weight. Support is
required under the workpiece on both
sides, close to the cutting line and near
the edge of the workpiece.
• Take extra care when plunge cutting in
walls or other similar areas where you
cannot see what lies behind. The disc can
damage concealed cables, or hit objects
that can cause kickback.
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR
SANDING WITH SANDPAPER
• Use the right size of sandpaper. Follow the
instructions of the manufacturer
concerning the size. If the sandpaper
sticks outside the pad it can catch and
break up, or cause kickback or personal
injury.
SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR
WORKING WITH WIRE BRUSHES
• Note that wires can come loose from wire
brushes, even during normal use. Do not
overload the wires by pressing the brush
too hard against the surface. Wires from
wire brushes can easily penetrate through
thin clothes and/or skin.
• If the guard is used, make sure that the
wire brush does not come in contact with
guard. Rotational forces can cause the
diameter of a cup/disc brush to increase
when in use.
ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Before working in walls, ceilings or floors,
check that there are no concealed
electrical cables or pipes. Use a cable
locator, or ask an electrician for help.
Failure to observe these instructions can
result in a risk of fire, explosion, electric
shock, personal injury and/or material
damage.
• Secure the workpiece. Secure the
workpiece with clamps or in a vice to
counteract kickback and/or to prevent the
workpiece being thrown away if the
accessory jams or fastens in the workpiece.
• Keep the work area clean. The mixing of
dust from different materials is especially
dangerous. Dust from light metals, such
as aluminium, can ignite or explode.
• Find out whether sanding the surface in
question can produce harmful dust and/
or harmful fumes. Avoid inhaling any dust
or fumes that can be harmful. Sanding
some surfaces (some metals, minerals
and types of wood and paint) can produce
dust that can cause allergic reactions and/
or can also be harmful to health. Avoid
inhaling and skin contact with the dust/
fumes from such materials. Materials that
contain asbestos should only be handled
by qualified personnel.
• Do not use the tool if the power cord or
plug are damaged. Pull out the plug
immediately if the power cord or the
extension cord get damaged. Do not pull
the power cord to unplug the plug.
Damaged power cords increase the risk of
electric shock.
