Checking the engine oil and
topping up
1. Remove the oil filler cap and wipe the
dipstick.
FIG. 8
2. Replace the dipstick, without screwing it
in.
3. Remove the dipstick again and check the
oil level. The oil level should be between
the MAX and MIN markings. Top up with
oil of the recommended grade (SAE30)
if the oil level is near or below the lower
limit mark on the dipstick. Top up to the
upper level marking. Do not overfill. Wipe
off any spilled oil.
4. Align the ribs on the cap to the slot in the
fuel filler tube and twist to lock.
WARNING!
The following procedures and settings should
be carried out before starting the engine:
• Use a good grade of 4-stroke engine oil
(SAE30). Do not put any additives in the
oil.
• Change the oil the first time after 5
working hours to benefit the lifespan of
the engine.
• The engine is supplied without oil and
petrol. Always fill up with fuel and
engine oil before using for the first time.
NOTE:
• Do not run the engine without enough
oil – risk of serious engine damage. Do
not use any oil grades other than those
recommended by the manufacturer, this
can reduce the lifespan of the engine.
• Place the lawn mower on a level surface
with the engine switched off to check
the oil.
Refuelling
1. Clean the area around the fuel filler cap
before opening. Open the fuel filler cap
and check the fuel level.
FIG. 9
2. Fill up with fuel if the level is too low.
3. Avoid spilling fuel when filling. Do not
overfill. The fuel must not come up the
filler tube.
4. Wipe up any spilled fuel before starting
the engine.
5. Replace and tighten the fuel cap by hand.
WARNING!
• Always use clean, fresh unleaded petrol.
Petrol is a perishable product. Do not
buy more petrol than you can use in 30
days. Do not mix oil in the petrol.
