General safety information for power tools
• Failure to follow all instructions and safety information may result in electric shock, fire and/or
serious injury.
• Save all warnings and instructions for future use.
• The term “power tool” in the warnings below refers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool.
Working range
1.
Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents.
2.
Do not operate power tools in explosive environments, for example in the presence of
flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or
fumes. Keep children and bystanders at a safe distance while operating a power tool.
3.
The user may become distracted and lose control of the rotary hammer drill.
Electrical safety
1.
The power tool plug must fit the power outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Never use
an adapter together with earthed equipment. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will
reduce risk of electrocution.
2.
Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces, such as pipes, radiators, ranges and
refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electrocution if the user’s body is earthed.
3.
Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will
increase the risk of electrocution.
4.
Take care with the power cable. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the
power tool. Keep the power cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts.
Damaged or entangled electrical cables increase the risk of electrocution.
5.
When operating the power tool outdoors, only use an extension cable approved for outdoor
use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock.
6.
If operating a power tool in a damp location is unavoidable, use a power supply that is
protected with a residual current device (RCD). Using an RCD reduces the risk of electrocution.
Personal safety
1.
Be careful. Always be careful and use common sense when working with power tools. Do not
use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A
moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious injury.
2.
Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment
tailored to the type and the use of the power tool, such as dust masks, non-skid safety shoes,
hard hats and hearing protection, will reduce the risk of personal injury.
