4.6.   Bringing up the lower thread

 

Move the  presser foot (28) to the upper position.
Turn the hand wheel (21) towards you with your right hand until the nee-
dle (26) moves down and back up again.
Stop turning the hand wheel (21) as soon as the needle (26) has reached its 
highest position.
Hold the end of the upper thread with your left hand.
Pull the upper thread upwards slightly so that the lower thread forms a 
loop.

 

Pull around 10 cm of both threads out from under the presser foot (28) to-
wards the rear.
