6. Initial operation and use
CAUTION!
Risk of injury from burning.
The casing will become hot during operation.
Therefore, only touch the appliance during opera-
tion using the buttons and handles provided for this
purpose.
Before you use the appliance for the first time, please proceed as follows:
Connect the toaster to a 220-240 V ~ 50/60 Hz safety socket;
Set the browning control to the highest level (7) and push the lever down to
switch on the toaster. Do not put any bread into the toaster this time.
Repeat this process four times once the toaster has switched itself off.
The appliance is now ready for use.
Please note
There may be some steam and/or smell when the toaster is switched on
for the first time. This is quite normal. You might need to ventilate the
room well.
7. Using the toaster
Proceed as follows for toasting bread:
Connect the toaster to a 220-240 V ~ 50/60 Hz safety socket. Make sure that the
crumb tray is correctly inserted.
Put a maximum of two slices of bread into the toaster, one in each slot.
Set the browning control to the required level according to taste (1 = lowest lev-
el of browning, 7 = highest level of browning).
Note
When using the toaster for the first time, or if you are unsure of the re-
quired level of browning, select a lower level. The level of browning de-
pends on the type of bread. You will need to make several attempts to
find out which level of browning is suitable for which type of bread.
To achieve even browning by toasting several times, wait around 1/2
minute after each time.
