WEIGHT LIMIT
Overloading the Discovery Seat may damage the product or it may cause the
Shuttle Discovery to tip over causing severe injury to the user and/or caregiver.
•
Maximum loading for the Verve Stroller is 55 kg (121 lb) and the Verve Stroller
storage basket is 5 kg (11 lb) (without Critical Care Basket Insert).
•
Maximum loading for the Discovery Seat is 25 kg (55 lb).
UNDERSTANDING YOUR SHUTTLE DISCOVERY
•
The Shuttle Discovery must only be used on a level / even surface, such as
concrete, asphalt, indoor floors and carpet.
•
The Shuttle Discovery is not suitable for jogging / running. Sudden stopping
can tip over the stroller causing severe injury to the user and /or others.
•
The caregiver should be familiar with the operation of the Shuttle Discovery.
ADJUSTING YOUR SHUTTLE DISCOVERY
•
Only use parts / accessories approved by Medifab.
•
Please request a regular product review from the user’s health care provider to
ensure the Shuttle Discovery meets the changing needs of the user.
•
After making any adjustments, ensure that all fasteners / knobs loosened are
firmly tightened again.
•
Make sure children are clear of moving parts when folding or erecting the
stroller, or while making adjustments.
BEFORE USING DISCOVERY - SAFETY CHECKS
•
Check that the Shuttle Discovery is fully unfolded / locked and the seat is
securely mounted and the wheels are locked.
•
Check that the rear and front wheels are fully engaged and secure. If the wheels
are not secure, the Shuttle Discovery can tip over causing severe injury to the
user.
•
Check that the Shuttle Discovery is moving smoothly and functioning correctly.
Any unusual noise or vibration or movement in the product could be caused
by loose fasteners or damage to the product. Contact the Shuttle Discovery
distributor or Medifab who will assist you to correct any problems.
•
Do not use the product until the problem is rectified.
USING YOUR DISCOVERY
•
Practice transfers until you are confident that you can do it safely.
•
Always engage parking brakes before transferring the user in or out of the
product.
•
Secure the user with all the straps provided as soon as the transfer is complete.
•
Ensure the straps are adjusted for the user and for changes of clothing. Ensure
the straps are fitted under the pelvic support and fitted snugly to ensure
correct posture and safety.
•
Never leave the user unattended in the Shuttle Discovery, even for the shortest
time.
•
Before setting off, ensure the user is comfortable and that clothes, blankets,
etc. are tucked in so they do not catch on the wheels.
•
A responsible caregiver of adequate strength must propel and supervise the
Shuttle Discovery during use.
•
Do not allow the user to climb unassisted into the Shuttle Discovery.
