Troubleshooting Med X Mobile Connection
Things to Remember:
Med X Mobile must be running and on the screen of the iPhone or iPad in order to do a transfer. Make sure the
iPad or iPhone has not gone to sleep and that you haven’t forgotten to call up Med X Mobile after looking at
network settings. There is a feature in Med X Mobile settings under the “Remote Access” heading when you tap
“Server” called “Prevent Sleep” that can be turned on to avoid this problem.
An iPhone or an iPad will always attempt to connect to its preset local wireless connections and seek out the
Internet. “Known networks” are joined automatically after the first time they are connected. This will sometimes
happen automatically and will disconnect you from the HDMD network if the device is set to do so. To prevent this
from happening, you can use the “Forget this Network” button in the Wi-Fi Network settings (blue arrow beside the
wireless network name) to permanently disconnect from an undesired wireless network to which the device has
connected. You can always rejoin any network you wish to connect to later with the proper password.
If you connect to a HDMD wireless network and then walk away from it with your device, the iPhone or iPad is
likely to connect to the closest “known” network the moment that you are too far away from the HDMD to see its
wireless broadcast. This will disconnect you from the HDMD wireless network. Using the “Forget this network”
button on the undesired network connection can combat this.
If you have connected to other HDMD machines using these methods and Med X Mobile in the past, it may be
necessary to tap the blue arrow beside the HDMD wireless network name to get into the Wi-Fi Network settings
and tap the “Forget this Network” button to be ready to connect to a different HDMD. This will delete all previously
arranged settings for the HDMD network that may be wrong. Next, looking back at the available wireless
networks, reconnect to the HDMD network making sure to input the password (“1234567890”) correctly. You will
not get an error message if this password is input incorrectly.
Steps to Take to Correct a Wireless Connection Problem:
After launching Med X Mobile, tap the green dot on the lower left to check your connection to the HDMD. Make
sure that the URL is correct for the connection – it should start with 169.254.105…
If the dot is orange and not green:
1.
Check the iPhone or iPad Network Settings and make sure “Airplane Mode” is activated. If it wasn’t and you
activate it, you may have to rejoin the HDMD network. Recheck your static IP setting after you rejoin to make
sure it is correct and in place.
2.
Attempt the transfer anyway; the “No WiFi Connection” message is false. Activating “Airplane Mode” will
correct the false message and may simplify the connection process.
If the dot is green but does not show the correct IP address:
1.
Go to the iPhone or iPad network settings and make sure that you are connected to the HDMD network and
that you have a static IP set as per the instructions.
2.
You may find that the device is not connected to the HDMD wireless network and has connected to another
network without asking. In this case, you should connect to the HDMD network again. You may need to
use the “Forget this Network” button on the other networks to remain disconnected if the wireless network
connection continues to change unexpectedly.
3.
If you find that the device is connected to the HDMD wireless network even though it has the wrong IP
address, you may need to use the “Forget this Network” button to reset the HDMD network settings because
they are wrong or to reset the connection settings if you were previously connected to another HDMD.
