Section 6 - Maintenance
Two Year Checklist
The following maintenance should be done every two years or 2,000 hours of operation.
E-1 Test or Replace the Hydraulic Oil
• Tools will be required to perform this procedure.
• New parts will be required to perform this procedure.
• A cold engine is required before performing this procedure.
Replacement or testing of the hydraulic oil is essential for good machine performance and service
life. Dirty oil and suction strainers may cause the machine to perform poorly and continued use may
cause component damage. Extremely hot and/or dirty conditions may require oil changes to be
performed more often.
Note:
Before replacing the hydraulic oil, the oil may be tested by an oil distributor for depletion of
important additives and for specific levels of contamination to verify that changing the oil is
necessary. If the hydraulic oil is not replaced at the two year inspection, test the oil annually.
Replace the oil when it fails the test.
Note:
When removing a hose assembly or fitting, the O-Ring (if equipped) on the fitting and/or the
hose end must be replaced. All connections must be torqued to specification during installation.
Note:
Be sure the machine is in the stowed position.
1.
Push in the red Emergency Stop button to the off position.
2. Tag and disconnect the harnesses from the ground control box.
3. Remove the ground control box retaining fasteners and set aside. Remove the ground control
box.
4. Locate the tank cover plate. Remove the tank cover plate mounting fasteners and remove the
cover.
5. Place a drain pan or other suitable container under the hydraulic tank.
6. Remove the drain plug from the hydraulic tank and completely drain the tank.
Bodily injury hazard. Spraying hydraulic oil can penetrate and burn skin.
Loosen hydraulic connections very slowly to allow the oil pressure to
dissipate gradually. Do not allow oil to squirt or spray.
7.
Tag, disconnect and plug the suction hose from the hydraulic tank. Cap the fitting.
8.
Tag, disconnect and plug the return hose at the return filter. Cap the fitting on the filter.
9.
Remove the return filter and head assembly from the tank. Cap and plug the fittings.
10. Loosen the tank strap retaining fastener in front of the tank. Move the strap to the side.
11. Remove the hydraulic tank from the machine.
12. Remove the suction strainer and clean using a mild solvent or replace.
13. Clean the inside of the hydraulic tank using a mild solvent.
14. Install the drain plug using thread sealer on the threads.
15. Install the suction strainer using thread sealer on the threads.
16. Install the hydraulic tank onto the machine.
