System Description
The supplemental restraint system has two
basic subsystems:
1) The air bag system with i n

2) The cicctric system with crash sensors
and diagnostic module

the dashboard, but they arc out of sight un­
til activated.

How .Air Bags Work
When ai r bag crash sensors detect a greater
than moderate frontal impact. an electrical
current is sent to
the inflators. Nitrogen gas
is produ c e d to intlate both bags. After the
inflation. they quickly denate.
