Installation of a smoothing choke
The installation of a smoothing choke in the coil circuit is
necessary, when the standard cable of the clutch is lengthened.
Reason: it is possible that the max. adjustable torque may not be
achieved due to the cable lengthening. The connection is to be
provided in direct proximity of the control unit and at the terminal
Ku2.
The smoothing choke belongs to the delivery range and can be
used for all sizes.
Technical data: 135 mH, 2 Amp. LxBxH 85x90x95 mm
Repeat order under: Art. No.0802841.

Connection of EAS
®
-Sm/Zr-clutches
Please observe! The EAS
®
-Sm/Zr-control unit is
adjusted to the corresponding size of the clutch at the
factory. In case other sizes are connected
malfunctions can be caused. Therefore, compare the
sizes of the control unit and clutch.

Overvoltage protection
For
the
installation
overvoltage category III, a
suitable
overvoltage
protection
is
required
between the input voltage
and the EAS
®
-Sm/Zr control
unit.
Temperature monitoring of the EAS
®
-Sm/Zr control unit
A fitted temperature switch prevent the overheating of the control
unit.
Switch OFF
with >80 °C operating temperature the coil voltage
gets switched off.
New start
only possible, when the EAS
®
-Sm/Zr control unit
cooled down below 40 °C.
Reset
by switching the input voltage OFF and ON.
Temperature monitoring of the clutch coil
The temperature monitoring of the coil can only be made with a
fitted PTC resistor. The PTC resistor is connected to the terminals
P1/P2.
Pre-warning with >+130 °C operating temperature
The coil voltage gets not switched-off yet.
Switch OFF
with >+135 °C operating temperature
The coil voltage is switched off.
New start
only possible, when the coil temperature cooled
down below +120 °C.
Reset
by „Start“clutch is energised.
Short circuit proof coil connection
In case of a short circuit between the coil connections Ku1 and
Ku2 the coil voltage is switched off. Reset of the short circuit
monitoring is made by switching-off the input voltage and removing
the short circuit.
Attention! Mass short circuits are not protected.
Connections Ku1 or Ku2 against earthed metal
components cause mass shorts and, therefore, failures
of the units. A residual current circuit breaker protection
against personal injury and damage to machinery is
required by the customer, which, however, does not
provide a protection against failure of the control unit.
