Adjustments
Attention!
Potentiometer
and
code
bridges coated with lacquer are factory
settings and must not be changed. To
avoid any malfunctions or troubles, the
operational functions are to be observed
before modification of the codings.
Engaging time t
k
(overexcitation time)
The engaging time t
k
is set to a max. time of 5 secs. (factory
setting). The engaging time is determined by:
Duty cycle 1
The engaging time is stopped during engagement
of the clutch and actuation of the limit switch, i.e.
switch over from overexcitation to torque current
Duty cycle 2
When the set time has passed (independent on
the switch condition of the clutch) it is switched
over from overexcitation to torque current.
Adjustment of the engaging time t
k
The potentiometer is accessible for the engaging time by taking off
the plastic cover.
The required time can be set with a screw driver.
Right-hand contact – max. time (5 secs.)
Left-hand contact – min. time (approx. 50 ms)
Duty cycle 1 (factory setting)
Switch over of the coil current from overexcitation to the set
torque-current, when the clutch engages and the limit switch is
“actuated”. Residual engaging time t
k
is set to zero
Please observe! 0,7 secs. slowing down time of
the overexcitation. The overexcitation 2 x I
NOM
is
switched off approx. 7 secs. later after the limit switch
has been actuated guaranteeing a better engagement
of the clutch. The 0,7 secs. slowing down time can be
set to “zero” by changing the coding.

Duty cycle 2
(observe coding!)
Application: It is used for acceleration of large masses.
Switch over of the coil current from overexcitation to the set
torque-current, when the engaging time t
k
has passed. A repetitive
switching ON and OFF within the engaging time t
k
does not cause
an overload signal. Before the time t
k
has passed the clutch must
remain engaged and the limit switch must be actuated.

Please observe! Danger due to overheating of the
coil. There is a risk of coil overheating due to frequent
starts “Tipp operation” with overexcitation, which can
cause a failure of the coil. The engaging time t
k
is to
be set to the minimum time to prevent this.

Overexcitation
time
Application: change of loads during an operational process.
The Multi-Start allows a repeated switching-ON of the
overexcitation during an operational process and can only be used
with duty cycle 2.
Please observe! Danger due to overheating of the
coil if the resistor is not used or if it is defective.
There is a risk of coil overheating due to too big cycle
sequence which can cause a failure of the coil. The
cycle sequence is to be limited and the overexcitation
time (=engaging time t
k
) is to be set to a minimum
time.
Overexcitation 2x I
NOM
The overexcitation of the coil amounts to 2 x I
NOM
of the max. coil
current. Switch over from overexcitation to the torque current is
made in dependency on the engaging time t
k
.
