TRAINING
TECHNIQUES
Electronic collars improve the acquired training. It is there only in case of an
“accident”.
CORRECTION STIMULATION
If the dog, after being seriously distracted, ignores a known command, a
sufficient stimulation must bring it back under control. A correction must
always be made immediately or, at the latest, within 2 seconds after the dis-
obedience.
At the beginning, it is recommended to use both the lead and the elec-
tronic collar. Once you have reached a certain level of training, the elec-
tronic collar becomes an invisible lead.
AVERSIVE TRAINING
To suppress a bad habit, you should associate a sufficiently aversive stim-
ulation to the unwanted behaviour. Do not add actions nor words to the
stimulation as the animal must believe that its behaviour alone controls the
stimulation.
REMOVAL TRAINING
Use both the lead and the electronic collar in the training together with a
continuous low-level stimulation. Loosening the pull on the lead and stop-
ping the stimulation provide an immediate reward.
If after training the dog refuses to obey a known order, then you can pun-
ish it by using a corrective stimulation (1 to 2 seconds at the latest after the
disobedience, while carefully adjusting its intensity).
