NOTE:
The fuel tanks are designed to accept fuel at a maximum rate of 9 gal lons
per minute (GPM) when the tank is between 25% and 75% full . The pres
sure inside the tank must not exceed 4 psi during fueling . Many marine
fuel pumps can deliver fuel at rates up to 35 GPM . A high fueling rate
should never be used, a high rate could damage the fuel system .
Decrease the fueling rate when fueling a tank that is either nearly empty or nearly
10 .
full . Decreasing the rate helps prevent fuel surge when the tank is empty, and
back up and spillage when the tank is full .
Begin pumping fuel at a rate of no more that 9 GPM into the fuel tank . When the tank is close to full, slow the fuel rate to less
11 .
than 9 GPM .
Monitor the fuel tank air vents . Stop filling when the sound of the air exiting the fuel tank vents changes during the filling pro-
12 .
cess . The sound will change significantly once the tank if full .
Replace the DIESEL fill deck plate .
13 .
To fuel the next fuel tank, repeat steps 9 - 12 .
14 .
Wipe up all spilled fuel after each tank is filled .
