Showdown 5.6 Dual Beam Features
ACTIVATING DUAL BEAM MODE – Your Showdown 5.6 Dual Beam trans-
ducer can be easily switched from a 20 degree cone angle (good for general
use) to an 8 degree cone angle (good for water over 40’, or any time there is a
lot of structure below you) . To switch between the narrow and wide beams –
First – Press and hold the “
UP” button and then press and hold the “RANGE”
button to “activate” the Narrow Beam or the Wide Beam. When the cone
angles have been switched, an “8” or “20” will appear briefly on the bottom of
the display, indicating which cone angle you are currently using.
The approximate area of coverage with a 20 degree transducer is deter-
mined by dividing the depth by 3 (in 30 feet of water your area of coverage
is approximately 10’). The approximate area of coverage with an 8 degree
transducer is determined by dividing the depth by 7 (in 30 feet of water your
area of coverage is approximately 4.25’).
Ice-Mode
Your Showdown 5.6 sonar offers exclusive
ICE Mode, a feature unique to
Versa Electronics brand sonar units, which allows for operation in the coldest
conditions. With
ICE Mode active, Showdown 5.6 triggers an internal LCD
heater that keeps the liquid crystals moving at their normal super high speeds
in sub-freezing temperatures. This means that anglers no longer have to
worry about their sonar “slowing down” due to freezing liquid crystal. While
this feature is called “Ice Mode”, you may find that your Showdown performs
better under a wide variety of conditions when in “
ICE” mode.
NOTE: If your Showdown 5.6 Dual Beam is left in extreme cold for an
extended time period with the
POWER turned OFF, allow one to two minutes
for the Ice Mode LCD heater to warm the crystals sufficiently after the
POWER has been turned ON and ICE Mode has been activated. After the
ICE Mode LCD heater has been running for an extended period, it is perfectly
normal for the Showdown 5.6 Dual Beam power-head to feel warm.
