Removing and installing crankshaft

Checking axial play

The axial play of the crankshaft is determined by
the centre crankshaft bearing (thrust bearing).

Move crankshaft in axial direction to and fro
and read off play on dial gauge.

If permissible axial play is exceeded, replace
main bearing shells complete.

Mount connecting rod bearing caps with bearing
