The following gear oil levels are visible from the oil inspection glass (

Figure 53):
• Oil level in the middle of the inspection glass (shown in Figure 53) while the drive is still warm from
operation.
• When the drive has just been switched off, the oil level is above the middle of the inspection glass.
• The oil level is below the middle of the inspection glass when the drive has completely cooled down.
1. Check the oil level inside the oil inspection glass.
2. Adjust the oil quantity in the gearbox if required.
3. Check the oil level inside the oil inspection glass again.
13.4 Checking the quality
Conduct a visual inspection of the oil to determine its quality. Fresh oil is visually clear, has a typical smell
and a product-specific color. Clouding or a flaky appearance indicates the presence of water and/or soiling.
A dark or black color indicates residue formation, a strong thermal decomposition, or soiling.

The drive was switched on shortly, and therefore wear particles and contamination remain floating in
the oil shortly after switching off the drive.
1. Disassemble the pressure release valve.
2. Extract a small amount of oil using a suction pump and a flexible hose.
3. Check the quality of the gear oil.
4. Check the condition of the sealing ring on the closing element and replace it if necessary.
5. Install the pressure release valve.
