Coolants
Coolants include anti-freeze and mixtures of anti-freeze and
water.
Used coolants belong in hazardous waste.
z Dispose of these operating materials properly as hazard-
ous waste.
z Observe the regulations of the local authorities.
Refrigerants
Refrigerants are contained in the air conditioner, which needs
to be changed regularly.
Refrigerants may under no circumstances escape into the at-
mosphere! Special requirements are therefore valid concern-
ing handling and disposal.
z Special recycling stations are employed for servicing the
air conditioners that suck off the refrigerant, clean it and
refill it into the air conditioner.
z
This service may be provided by specialist companies only
with the necessary technical equipment and the corre-
sponding technical certification.
z The disposal of refrigerants is the exception, because
refrigerants normally are cleaned by the recycling station
and are refilled then.
z
Basically, the refrigerant needs to be disposed of as haz-
ardous waste. Observe the regulations of the responsible
local and the national authorities.
Vehicle batteries
Vehicle batteries contain pollutants such as lead and battery
acid.
z Battery manufacturers and dealers are obligated to take
back old batteries and to recycle or dispose of them.
z You can also drop off the old batteries at a collection point
for old batteries.
z Observe the regulations of the responsible local and the
national authorities.
