1-  These are absolute minimum distances and where possible should always have a 

greater difference. Under no circumstances should any of the distances be reduced as 

performance will be affected. More ventilation is better. 

2-  Heat pumps should be located in an outdoor area and not to be placed indoors. 

3-  Louvered doors/windows are not acceptable means of ventilation 

4-  Heat pumps should not be placed in pits, under house decks, or any environment with 

closed ventilation conditions, special distances above will not be applicable in those 

instances. 

5-  If needed, ducts can be connected to the heat pump air discharge outlets (done by a 

ducting contractor), ducts to be routed to an outdoor area to get rid of any cool air 

generated by the system. Fresh air duct to be supplied into the room with room 

ambient temperature.
