Exposure to extremely high noise levels may cause permanent hearing
loss. Individuals vary considerably in susceptibility to noise-induced
hearing loss, but nearly everyone will lose some hearing if exposed to
sufficiently intense noise for a period of time. The U.S. Government’s
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has specified
the permissible noise level exposures shown in the following chart.
According to OSHA, any exposure in excess of these permissible limits
could result in some hearing loss. To ensure against potentially danger-
ous exposure to high sound pressure levels, it is recommended that all
persons exposed to equipment capable of producing high sound pres-
sure levels use hearing protectors while the equipment is in operation.
Ear plugs or protectors in the ear canals or over the ears must be worn
when operating the equipment in order to prevent permanent hearing
loss if exposure is in excess of the limits set forth here.

Introduction
Thank you for choosing the Mackie Hotwire EX12
extension speaker cabinet for the Hotwire VT12 profes-
sional guitar amplifier. The EX12 is built from the finest
materials and components available. The cabinet is
carefully constructed and then covered with extremely
tough fabric-backed vinyl. It contains a 12" Mackie
custom-voiced neodymium speaker.
The Hotwire EX12 has a 1/4" phone plug input on
the back of the cabinet for connecting it to the exter-
nal speaker jack on the back of the VT12, the perfect
complement for extending the volume and sound of your
VT12 guitar amplifier.
Input Plate
Connect the external speaker jack on the back of
the VT12 (or the output of your amplifier rated up to
100 watts into 4 ohms) to this 1/4" jack using a speaker
cable.
Note:
Do not use a guitar cord (shielded cable) to
connect an amplifier to a speaker cabinet. Guitar cords
are not designed to handle the higher currents provided
by an amplifier.
