4. Starting up
4.1 Installation of the B70V 120.1
The three-phase drives are connected with the pump by means
of a quick fastener.
Inside of the fastening screw threads of the motors are pre-
mounted for this purpose two positioning pins
(see Fig. 4
- Item 1)
and two locking screws
(see Fig. 4 – Item 2)
.
Before assembly the jaw-type coupling must be adjusted at the
motor- and pump-side
(see Fig. 4 - Item 3)
.
Attach the motor onto the pump . The both locking screws here
must be in accordance with the large bores at the flange of the
pump
(see Fig. 4 - Item 4)
.
After a clockwise turning of the motor at block position
(see
Fig. 4.1 - Item 1)
the both locking screws can be tightened
(see Fig. 4.1 - Item 2)
.
Use a lifting device (equalizer, crane, etc.) when you assemble
and disassemble the motor or complete pump. You can connect
this device to the pump by using an optional clamp fitted to
the motor.
The national accident prevention regulations must be observed
without fail.
4.2 Electrical connection of three-phase motors
The electrical connection may only be carried out by
trained qualified personnel. Following regulations must
be observed:
- All works must only be carried out in voltage-free
condition of the motor. Protection switch must be set
to OFF-position.
- Mains voltage and frequency are as specified on the
rating plate
(see Fig. 5)
.
- Dimension of the connecting cable must be adjusted
to the nominal current.
- The insulation of the connecting cable must be
adjusted to the environmental conditions.
4.3 Direction of rotation
The motor must rotate in the direction indicated by the arrow
(see Fig. 1)
. Reconnect the motor as necessary.
4.4 Connecting the pressure line
The pump is equipped with a Tri-Clamp connection on the outlet
side. For connecting the pressure line, establish an appropriate
Tri-Clamp connection compliant with DIN 32676, DN 50
(see
Fig. 6)
. Check that the connection is tight.
4.5 Maximum immersion depth
Make sure that the pump is not submerged further than its
discharge port
(see Fig. 2)
.
4.6 Assembly in the container
Fasten the pump in the container with appropriate drum adapt-
ers. Make sure that the container with the installed pump
is enough stably even in empty condition. This is of special
attention with small containers.
5. Operation
5.1 Dry running
The pump is said to run dry if it continues to operate without
pumping any liquid
(see Fig. 7)
. Dry running must be avoided.
This can be ensured by remaining in attendance or with the aid
of such technical means as a flow monitor, etc.
5.2 Suction funnel
At least the intake port must be completely covered with
medium in order to prevent the infiltration of air while pumping.
When pumping highly viscous products, care must also be taken
to prevent the formation of suction funnels.
5.3 Operation with closed discharge
The eccentric screw pump B70V 120.1 is a positive
displacement pump and must not be operated with
closed shutoff elements, such as the nozzle, valves, etc.
An excessive pressure build-up may result in damage.
Ensure that the maximum pressure of 8 bar is not
exceeded.
