Introduction to the Audio Menu
The
Audio
menu sets up the audio EDID reported back to HDMI sources. It also selectively enables audio
outputs based on conditions specified by the user. Note that associating an audio input with a specific video
input is done using the Input menu.
•
There are 18 audio inputs: 6 HDMI, 4 analog stereo, 2 optical and 6 COAX.
•
Audio from any audio input (HDMI, analog, SPDIF) can be routed to one or both of the HDMI
outputs, and/or the two COAX outputs, with the appropriate limits on the output format. For
example, the digital COAX audio output will only carry 2-channel PCM, Dolby Digital, and DTS.
•
HDMI audio EDID reported back to the HDMI sources can be passed-back from either of the two
outputs, passed back from the common elements of the two outputs (i.e. only features supported
by both outputs are enabled), or user defined.
•
The audio EDID reported back to sources can change dynamically, as configured by the user,
based on which HDMI output has active video. A simple example is to report audio EDID from
output 1's display (or amplifier) when it is active and report output 2's display (or amplifier) EDID
when output 1 is not actively carrying video.
NOTE:
Some sources update their EDID information
only when they are powered on, or do not properly reread EDID when HDMI the Hotplug signal is
toggled. This violates the HDMI specification, but is an all too common practice. If you have a
source that reads EDID only at power-on, or does not respond properly to Hotplug, a single EDID
mode should be enabled (e.g. select “always report user EDID” as described below).
•
Default user-defined mode is 2-channel PCM and Dolby-Digital 5.1 only. In any case, the user can
change the user-default to include any or all audio modes supported by the RadianceXD.
•
Audio EDID, and audio output enables, are global parameters. That is, they can change when the
active output changes, but there is no input-specific memory as with video. However, audio input
association with a specific video input is done using the Input menu.
Audio Menu Navigation
You can navigate the Audio Menu using the arrow buttons on the remote. To change the setting for any
item on the menu, navigate to the item and press the “OK” button on the remote. That item will begin
flashing to indicate it is active for change. Use the arrow buttons on the remote to change the setting. Press
the “OK” button to accept the setting or press the “EXIT” button to cancel. The highlight stops flashing and
a different item can be selected.
Audio Menu Selections
Each line of the audio menu can have up to 6 entries. These are:

Audio Menu Structure
Audio setup is global using an “If – then – Else” structure. This is independent of the Video EDID. That is,
video “pass-through” of the video EDID is selected in the input memory “EDID Setup” on a “per-input-
memory” basis, and audio EDID is globally selected based on which HDMI output has active video. The net
