7. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

In the majority of cases it is necessary to remove the fixed guards in
order to carry out repairs and checks. This also renders the voltage cables
accessible.
Before carrying out any maintenance operations check that the
equipment’s feed cable plug is disconnected from the switchboard.
Put the plug in a place where the maintenance operator can easily
ascertain that it has been disconnected during all of the work done
with the guards removed.
7.1.1 Mechanic maintenance
Check monthly the belt tension.
Check every 6 months the tension of the chains and their greasing.
To carry out the above mentioned operations, remove the safety devices
on the machine head and in the back of the machine frame.
The best tension of the machine is achieved, when the free side of
the belt, pressed by one finger, has a bending equal to the thickness of the
chain.
If these checks show the need to replace the worn pieces, refer to the
local retailer or to the Manufacturing company.
7.1.2 Electric maintenance
The visual control of the electric cable as well as of its plug must be
done weekly or whenever they undergo rubbing, strokes or trampling.
Check the regular functioning of the micro-switch of the electric
interblocking device of the safety guard and of the head for the models
GALASSIA SPECIAL and GALASSIA SUPER. In case of short circuit and
of a following damage to the fuses, replace them with equivalent ones.
For the replacement, act as follows:
1. after the plug has been taken out of the socket, get to the electric case
by removing the back protection guard.
2. Find the defective fuses and replace them.
3. After the replacement, set and fix the removed safety guards.
