Mantel Requirements
Combustible Mantels
Use the table below to determine the maximum mantel depth allowed. The mantel depth (measured
from the face of the fireplace) must fall in the shaded portion of the table.
Any material that protrudes more than 3/4” (19mm) from the non-combustible facing is considered a
mantel and must meet the mantel requirements.
Combustible mantel columns (legs) must
be placed to the side of the fireplace face.
Non-combustible mantel columns do not
have a minimum clearance.
