5. Place the acoustic calibrator on the reference microphone

and click

Calibrate

 to measure its sensitivity.

If the

Measured Sensitivity

 is outside the manufacturer’s

specifications, a flashing FAILED message will appear.
Check your connections and make sure the calibrator is
turned on before assuming something is wrong with the
microphone.

If a Reference Frequency of 1000 Hz is entered, but the
Calibrator’s actual frequency is 1008 Hz, the Calibration
may Fail. To verify the Calibrator’s frequency, use the

Spectrum Analyzer

 under the Main Screen -

Instruments

menu.

The meter in

Figure 4-18

indicates the corresponding dB level relative to 1 Volt per Pascal. If it

varies by a few tenths of a dB from the last calibration measurement, do not be alarmed, this is
normal. If it varies by more than 1 dB or failed the sensitivity test, the microphone should be
checked by a qualified calibration lab.

TEDS Microphone

AmpConnect 621 supports TEDS transducers. Click on

Read TEDS

in the Calibration Editor when a TEDS

transducer is connected to an AmpConnect 621 input.
The Sensitivity value automatically updates along with
the serial number and calibration date for the
connected transducer.
