one person slides a 

5/8” Flat Washer (BIP)

 onto to 

the end of each J-Bolt and secure the Pole into 
position with a 

5/8” Nylock Nut (ADL)

Tighten the four 

Hex Nuts (ADL)

 above the Pole plate 

until they are secure against the plate, making 
sure the backboard remains vertical.  Turn the 
center

 until it touches the Pole plate.

A MINIMUM OF THREE ADULTS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS 
STEP.

  Have two adults continue supporting the 

Pole. Using a carpenter’s level on the face and 
the side of the Backboard, adjust the Hex Nuts 
between the J-Bolt Template and the Pole plate 
until the Pole plate is resting level on all four 
Nuts, with the Backboard hanging vertical.
