7-2. Steps to take in an emergency

Driver’s door
1
Insert a plastic card, etc. into the gap in
the door handle to pry up the cover.
To avoid damage, do not apply excessive
force to the cover.

Remove the cover by pressing it on the
rear.

Using the mechanical key, turn the lock
cylinder to the unlock side to enable the
manual release handle operation.
4 Check that the door cannot be opened.

Doors other than the driver’s door
1 Open the door. Using the mechanical
key, slide the cover in the direction
shown in the illustration.
To avoid damage, do not apply excessive
force to the cover.

Insert the mechanical key into the open-
ing.

Remove the mechanical key and slide
the cover back to its original position.
4 Check that all of the doors cannot be
opened.

To prevent battery discharge
●
Turn off the headlights and the audio sys-
tem while the engine is stopped.
●
Turn off any unnecessary electrical com-
ponents when the vehicle is running at a
low speed for an extended period, such
as in heavy traffic.
■ When the battery is removed or dis-
charged
● Information stored in the ECU is cleared.
When the battery is depleted, have the
vehicle inspected at your Lexus dealer.
● Some systems may require initialization.
