7.1.
Adjusting the brakes
When dismantling a brake the wheelchair has to be unoccupied. The wheelchair has to be so
secured that after taking away a brake the wheelchair should not move.
•
Fully unlock the brakes.
•
Loosen the cylindrical screw on the brake mounting using a
5 mm Allen key (see photo 14).
•
Adjust the position of the brake and the mounting to leave a gap
of approximately 25 mm between the brake shoe and tyre, then
screw the cylindrical screw tight again (see photo 15).
•
Test the strength of the brake.
•
Should you need to tighten up the brakes, push the brake shoe
closer to the tyre; to relax the brake tension, leave a larger gap
between shoe and tyre.
