Configuring the Network Connection
Use the
Network Connection
to configure the network settings of DSS-1000, which includes
setting of the connection type and IP address.
There are two types of connection:
Manual
and
DHCP
.
Manual
: The IP address must be assigned manually, so are other network
configurations like Subnet Mask, Gateway, etc. Note that the IP address must be unique
for each device on the network. By default, DSS-1000 has a default IP of
192.168.0.200
and subnet mask of
255.255.255.0
. Users may need to change the default IP and
subnet mask to ensure DSS-1000 belongs to the same network segment as the
cameras.
DHCP Connection
: On a DHCP network, the DHCP server assigns the IP address
automatically. By default, DSS-1000 will automatically switch to DHCP connection
mode and be assigned an IP address. However, if this does not happen, users need to
manually change the
Connection Type
to
DHCP
on page 98.
Setting the IP Address Manually
If your network does not have a DHCP server, perform the following to manually configure the
network settings:
1.
On the
Setup
screen, click
Network
>
Network Connection
.
2.
On
Connection Type
, select
Manual
.
3.
Obtain the information from your network service provider and enter the
IP Address
,
Subnet Mask
, and other necessary settings.
NOTE:
The IP Address and Subnet Mask must be filled in. Other settings may be left blank
if not required by the network service.
4.
When done, click
Save
.
Obtaining the IP Address Automatically
If your network has a DHCP server, DSS-1000 will automatically be assigned an IP address.
