1. Remove any media from the drives and turn off all connected devices and the computer. Then,

disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the
computer.

2. Remove the front cover. See “Removing the front cover” on page 63.

3. Remove the system board frame. See “Replacing the system board frame” on page 68.

4. Disconnect the power button board cable from the power button board connector on the system board.

See “Locating parts on the system board” on page 32.

5. Remove the screw that secures the power button board to the computer, and then pull the power

button board to remove it from the computer.

6. Align the screw hole in the new power button board with the tab on the computer and position the new

power button board in the computer. Then, install the screw to secure the new power button board
on the rear cover.
