Chapter 1. Before installing an operating system

Before installing an operating system, do the following:

• Copy the driver for onboard SATA software Redundant Array of Independent Disks (RAID) or a RAID

card from the

ThinkServer

®

EasyStartup

DVD that comes with your server to a Universal Serial Bus

(USB) storage device.

• Set the optical drive that you want to use as the first startup device. Depending on the server model, an

external optical drive might be required.

Note:

If you want to install an operating system in UEFI mode, set the UEFI drive as the first startup device.
