When you install an internal drive, it is important to note the type and size of the
drive that you can install in each bay. Also, it is important to correctly connect the
internal drive cables to the installed drive.
Drive specifications
Your computer comes with the following factory-installed drives:

A 3.5-inch hard disk drive in bay 1
v
An optical drive in bay 2 (some models)
Figure 12 shows the locations of the drive bays.
The following list describes the type and size of the drive that you can install in
each bay:

Bay 1 - Maximum height: 25.8 mm (1 inch)
3.5-inch hard disk drive
1.8-inch Solid State Drive (requires
a Universal Adapter Bracket, 3.5 to
1.8-inch)

Bay 2 - Maximum height: 43 mm (1.7 inches)
Maximum length: 180 mm (7.08 inches)
Optical drive, such as a CD drive
or a DVD drive (preinstalled in
some models)
3.5-inch hard disk drive (requires a
Universal Adapter Bracket, 5.25 to
3.5-inch)*
5.25-inch hard disk drive
* You can obtain a Universal Adapter Bracket, 5.25 to 3.5-inch from a local
computer retailer or by contacting the Customer Support Center.
